Question

Interviewing for AE Large Enterprise and I noticed that the AE and Senior AE are the exact same job description, word for word. The only difference is that AE is 6-10 years of experience, where SEA is 8-15.  Does that mean I make it through to the end I could ask for Senior title and SEA level pay?

It is indeed the same job. Senior is obviously a higher pay level and may carry a higher quota, might not. I would do significant due diligence on the territory and understand why there’s an opening. A bad territory can significantly impact your success, especially if u don’t have an involved leader

You can ask. The SAE you usually have larger contracts and more $ to manage, which comes with a higher package. If you can justify why you should be SAE, then go for it, you’re in sales and they like that approach.

100%. That’s how you can justify a higher pay band. They’ll tell you the AE role is only supports “X” salary. So you can suggest changing the title in order to obtain access the higher salary band. You can also use that change in title to adjust/negotiate your potential commission percentages.

Yes and you should. Be prepared as they  will try to give you something about the “territory may or may not support a senior title, etc…”

Yes! You can negotiate for this. Ultimately it comes down to what they’re willing to pay. Depending on your pay range you have to be a Sr AE per HR to justify.
