Apollo is based on an open source technology, GraphQL. The company does not do a good job of differentiating between open source and the Enterprise offering. The sales cycle is extremely long and companies generally aren't ready to adopt Apollo GraphQL until they are very far along in their journey with GraphQL and need an Enterprise solution that offers the proper security and governance to scale and be a tier 1/ 0 offering across an Enterprise organization.
