Former Employee NYL is a mutual life insurance company. They make a product, rely on new agents to sell to their family and friends, and then wave nicely as 95% of agents burn and fizzle out in 12-18 months. They recruit hundreds of new agents into the business per year; maybe thousands. As long as you have a pulse, can pass the life insurance agent exam, and don’t have a criminal record they’ll give you a shot at the business. They’ll train the crap out of you, and if you’re smart, tenacious, and lucky, you can make it. If not, you’ll crash and burn fast. There is zero base salary. 100% commission.
