Being having a hard time getting my foot in the door with any sales position Ive applied to. Im getting the generic response back saying that Im not a good fit, or that they have went with another candidate. Ive been searching for a couple months now with the same result and I have been tailoring my resume for almost each application. I also have been reaching out to hiring managers to put a face to an app. I have 8+ years in full sales cycle but for the life of me I can get any traction with any or my applications. Based in Austin so you would think there would be enough opportunity but I am having a really hard time even landing an interview. Anyone else going through this/ any advice?
It's a tough hiring market for sure. Are the jobs your applying for in a similar deal size / industry as your prior experience? Or are you looking to make a change?
I'd highly recommend putting together Loom intro videos. People seem to have a harder time ignoring a video that's clearly directed to them when they see you took real time and energy to put it together. I'd also start looking at companies you're really interested in that fit well with your background, regardless of whether or not they are currently hiring. Connecting with people at those companies and creating a relationship ahead of any hiring could help you get your foot in the door early when those roles come open. Obviously not ideal if you're looking for a new role immediately, but can pay dividends down the road if your search is stalling. Good luck!
Thanks yall, im currently looking for an AE role. Across my career I have had a variety of deal sizes and industries that I worked in. Worked in VioP, restaurant/ hospitality, property mang. software, dropshipping, and most currently marketing software.
Are you applying to SDR or AE roles? AWS, IBM, and I believe even MSFT have digital sales offices in austin---have you applied to those?
