For those in cloud sales roles — how is your commission structured? I’m trying to get a better sense of how compensation breaks down between net new deals and usage-based growth. From what I’ve seen so far, some roles pay about: • 25% of commission from the initial contract (net new logo) • 75% of commission tied to ongoing usage growth, often driven by expanding use cases after the initial sale A few questions for those currently in these roles: • Does this breakdown align with your experience? • Are you still earning commission on usage if a CSM drives most of the expansion? • How involved are AEs vs. CSMs when it comes to increasing usage?
