I am looking for an SDR remote job, and usually, I pass the first round of the interview, however, I never get past the second and third rounds to get a job offer. It has been months of doing this. What is happening? I have around 1 year of SDR experience and sales experience with internships and work as well.
Yes indeed, thanks for letting me know.
My own perspective. Please take it with a grain of salt.. I had the same problem. Rather than spray and pray, I tried a different approach. I pick and choose my Ideal list of companies and I tailor my resume and cover letter to each job. I do my research and I meet SDRs in the team, find interesting things about them (for example a similar career path), engage in a coffee chat and genuinely learn from their experience. I never go with the intent for a referral. But, it works most of the time as I genuinely show curiosity and try solving the same problem they are trying to solve/ facing. This approach is resulting in referrals, warm meetings with the hiring managers and introductions I wouldn't have received with a cold outreach. I prepare for each meeting and add my value to their time. It does not work out all the time, but when it does it works like magic. It also helped me become a better BDR - I do my research into the company, figure out ways to reach out to stakeholders, pivot my messages, responses and my engagements. I am seeing positive momentum and hopefully I land offers. I wish you land your dream role as well. All the very best :)
Thank you very much!
Have you asked for feedback? Don't ask what you did wrong. Ask what differentiated the candidate they hired.
