I am soon starting an SDR job at a Tech company as an apprentice (2 weeks at work / 1 week at school). Do you think I can achieve the same results as the other full-time SDRs? After that 1-year job, will I have as much value as a full-time SDR on the market if I hit my quota? Tbh I am more interested to get a full-time SDR job but I did not find one yet. I have until mid-August to get one, otherwise I will do the apprentice plan.
It is through my school and I have the minimum fix salary + a bonus if I hit my quota and another one when a lead that I bring to the AE closes (0,2% of the deal, which is in general around 100k). It is a real Tech Sales role but with a bad salary for year (the classic SDRs in that company have good salaries) and working 2 weeks out of 3 (I am at school the third one)
Interesting. I love that! Seems like these types of internships/co-ops are becoming more common, which is great. You'll have a huge advantage compared to other new grads who don't have any real sales experience. But I guess your question is how you'll compare if you're competing with other full-time SDRs... I think the answer really comes down to performance at that point. Will you be able to hit the quota of a full-time SDR while only selling 2/3 of the time? It's possible - but you'll just have to be more focused and disciplined. SDR success is usually a simple factor of focus and execution. Assuming that you're selling something that has decent product-market-fit, and you know that some people are succeeding in the role, then it just comes down to who has the drive and discipline to pick up the phone and make the calls (or send the emails, etc). Can you manage your time to make 3 weeks worth of calls in 2 weeks?
The PMF is great and the company is in a Cybersecurity niche, but with a large market (literally every company with more than 500 employees would benefit from the product). The objectives given to me is to plan 1 demo per day. But I personally also want to have the same generated revenue as full-time SDRs, before the sixth month there. As you said, it will be down to me to be disciplined and motivated. If I prove I can do that, I will have a great lever for the next step of my carrier. Great times ahead!
Best of luck with it!
On your resume, you'll be able to the same tenure as anyone else: one year. Seems like a pretty good set up where you can get work experience and explore your other interests and skills. Hit your quota, and you'll be golden.
My goal is to have the same performance as other SDRs (while working only 2 weeks out of 3 because the third ones are at school). It seems to be pretty hard but I believe I can do it. If I manage to achieve this, I think I will be in a Great position at the end of the 12 months contract.
Is this through your school? Is the role paid?
