I want to become an SDR but having a hard time without a degree. I've worked as a sales rep for T-mobile and currently am also a realtor. I really want to join a company that is prestigious enough to turn eyes on a resume. The only realistic is memoryBlue ... otherwise anyone have an inspiring realistic career path?
A previous colleague of mine just used the following tactic (going from middle management in another industry to SaaS SDR), might not be a great idea in all countries legally but I'm unsure. - Find a list of attractive companies (startup lists in your area that received funding within a year) - Prospect the decision makers - Show them your sdr skills by calling emailing etc. - Book the HoF Sales, pitch him on why they need you. - Hope for the best. Companies that like to cheap out are your best friend - and everyone makes decisions based on gut in the end. Either way, if SDR'ing is your goal - you can't be afraid of the phone so better try it out asap!
Network, network, network. Your best shot is for someone you make a connection with to give you a shot.
Are you hearing from companies that you need a degree to be considered?
After using mB for a few months, we hired someone directly from them. They've made it a year so far, and they're a solid SDR. Go with mB. It's a nuthouse at times, but you'll learn a lot. Tough job, high turnover, but good experience.
crushing your quota is more impressive than the name of the company you do it for.
Don’t give up - grit/talent/exp will always shine through to good hiring managers who evaluate character vs. resume dissecting degree elitists. Fwiw - I have no degree and worked mobile retail before landing my launchpad SDR role. Been in tech over a decade now, the last 6 as an Ent AE.
Real Estate could be a good shout?
