What industries will be best for SDRs and AEs in the next 5 years? AI obviously, but anything else?
Yeah these seem to be the consensus
I'm still bullish on software, as AI 'agents' are not going to be taking over AE roles. Yes of course AI, but don't sleep on: cybersecurity, medical device sales, manufacturing. Good luck! ✌️
Helpful - Thanks!
Should there be a cybersecurity category under 'Industry'?
Honestly with the tariffs recently I’ve wondered if supply chain will become more of a growing market. Gotta have the right B2B software if WWIII starts.
Healthcare will likely always be in a good spot with minimal impact from macro economics.
For medical device sales , a medical degree would be required? And experience with other companies maybe?
No - most definitely not. Very few med device sales people are actual MDs... however a general understanding of the specialty that you're working in is critical - since you're selling to docs. A big part of success in med device is to become an expert in the problem that your product solves for the doc. And while it's all "medicine", the problem that you're solving is often something non-clinical. ie, saves time, easier than the alternative, or it changes the economics of the procedure for the doc or the hospital.
You'd be surprised at how often a sales rep can actually teach a doc about what seems like it's *their* specialty - as long as you really deeply understand what your product does. For the best reps, this education is a huge part of their sucess - but that takes years to build up.
fintech, healthtech, cyber
As some other mentioned I believe the cyber security market will continue growing.
Most likely AI
I think Data, AI, Cloud and Cybersecurity
