Former Employee Can't speak to the entire organization, just the holding that was AJ Perri, but ARS was in late-stage capital extraction mode there, and created a work environment that was like a penitentiary. Private Equity will do Private Equity things, but the GM at AJ Perri at the time I worked there was the absolute stereotype of a craven power-tripping petty cartoonish villain.
"Top reps" are the few who somehow navigate the BS long enough and live in the right townships.
There are worse places to learn and work in HVAC, like prisons or third-world nations, except people are probably more honest there than at AJ Perri. You will be told you "could make up to $200K your first year", but in reality even if you hustle your butt off to the tune of 12-16 hour days the best you can expect is to be given the thinnest of opportunities and then blamed when you can't upsell pensioners who were suckered into a "free estimate" while they were out shopping for paint at Lowe's or Home Depot.
There are places in the HVAC space where you can make excellent money, but ARS and AJ Perri are not it.
