How effective is the sales training program at UniFirst Corporation for individuals interested in pursuing a career in sales?

It's ok, if I'm honest. The biggest issue there is with any sales training is that they don't spend enough time on the specific products, and in the case of UniFirst, they spent WAY too much time on a lot of the PPE products, which, at best, might represent 5% of your total sales. MOST of your sales will be standard uniforms, rugs, etc. They also just have you watching a lot of videos, but no real practice before you go out into the field. Not to mention, you have to pass all of these tests before you can go into the field--but the tests are dependent on other people being available. So, you could, through no fault of your own, be hindered in your sales career because of this. 
So much of learning sales is actually practicing, but, they don't really have a conducive environment for it--everyone in your office is out selling and their focus is not on the new person. They need to develop a program that allows the new person to actually focus on learning the material, practice, etc.

I went through Unifirst Sales Training Program and learned an absolute TON. Like any company there are great people and bad people. I unfortunately had to work for some awful managers but it led me to be a strong (Self Proclaimed) Director of Sales I am today, but teaching me how NOT to lead. The company has a lot of great people on the ground, but a lot of "Try Hards" at HQ.

There's good and bad to this but the training is VERY script-based.  Both the training and the overall experience you get in the role are great starting points and help to build a good foundation in sales but it can also be frustrating because when you're in the field, customers and prospects don't follow the scripts you memorized in training.
