Former Employee Working as a sales rep at Varsity Tutors wasn’t a terrible experience, but it was definitely centered around one main thing: sales performance. From day one, there was a strong emphasis on hitting numbers, closing enrollments, and maintaining a high volume of outreach. If you’re someone who thrives in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment, this might be a great fit.
The training was solid, and I appreciated the clear structure of expectations. Managers were generally supportive, though feedback often revolved around performance stats more than personal development. The work could get repetitive, and the pressure to hit quotas was consistent. It sometimes felt like less attention was given to the educational mission of the company and more to closing deals.
