Google. The world’s search engine and the king in online advertising. In 2021, Google brought in roughly 210 billion in advertising revenue, which amounts to nearly half (40%) of all digital Ad spend. The San Francisco based company has a market cap of 1.8 trillion and is one of the top 5 largest companies in the world. Google now employs 270,000 people, many of whom have joined through Google’s vast number of acquisitions. Google has acquired a whopping 250 companies for a combined 21 billion (as of 2022). With that, Google has become a business empire the likes of which we have rarely ever seen, and has become a brand synonymous with innovation and technology in the 21st century.

Sounds like a company you’d love to work for. But just how much do salespeople make working at Google, and how does that stack up to comparable sales roles? Let’s take a deep dive into the numbers and find out:

For this article, we’ve decided to focus on the following metrics: base pay and OTE (on-target earnings), average deal size, quota attainment (the percentage of sales team hitting quota), and how much the top earners make (according to sales reps from that organization).

How much do the salespeople at Google make? Here are the numbers:

Let’s start with the frontline of every sales organization: SDRs. At Google, the average base for an SDR is $67,000 with OTE of $118,000 and up to $169,000 for the top performers. These numbers show that being an SDR at Google can earn you as much money as many Account Executives at other sales organizations. Not bad for the “early stage” salespeople.

Speaking of Account Executives, AEs at Google can make an incredible living, whether they are Mid-Market or Enterprise. Mid-Market AEs earn a base salary of $127,000 with an OTE of $201,000. The top performers here can make up to $344,000.

Enterprise AEs make a similar income, albeit slightly higher. Their base salary is $125,000, but OTE are $217,000 and the top performers can expect to earn a staggering $381,000. Wow.

Here’s some more data to give you an idea of what it’s like to be a salesperson at Google:

  • The average deal size is $206,575 (AEs)
  • Quota hit around 70% of the time (all salespeople)
  • Over 30,000 people in sales and 270,000 employees in total
  • They have a RepVue score of 94.06
  • Currently 162 ratings (salary data points)
  • Headquartered in Mountain View California

In closing, it’s clear that working at Google, whether that be as an SDR or Account Executive, is an incredible opportunity with great earning potential. 70% of salespeople hit their quota and with a RepVue score of 94.06, it’s obviously highly rated by the people who work there.
