Network is everything, internally and externally. There is significant internal competition to sell into accounts. Without a strong network, it's hard to make a dent in established accounts where the executive relationships are already captured by long-term team members.

The sales organization I have experience with is Digital Inside Sales within Operations. For my level and as an individual contributor the standard bonus (100% attainment) was 10% of my base salary and the maximum bonus (150%+ attainment) was 20% of my base salary.
