Former Employee I worked at Aptive Environmental as a door-to-door sales rep on a 100% commission structure. The upside was real—on good days, I made solid money and learned how to close deals under pressure. But everything else? I was mostly on my own.
The training was mid. It gave me a general structure, but once I hit the doors, I realized the script we were taught wasn’t what top reps were actually saying. I had to figure out what worked by getting rejected and adjusting in real time.
The culture wasn’t much better. My team lacked leadership and structure. No real one-on-ones, no mentorship—just occasional check-ins that felt surface-level. When I struggled, I had to grind through it without support.
Despite that, I knocked 130–150 doors a day and closed over $40K in contracts with around 85% retention. I became self-reliant, resourceful, and built a pitch that worked from scratch. This job taught me grit and discipline—but not because the system was strong. It was because it wasn’t.
If you want structure, this isn’t it. But if you want a challenge that’ll either break you or build you, this is where you find out what you’re made of. Browse Other Reviews
