Your first year you are given a ramp (12 months until full quota, ramp pay for the first 3 months) but generating deals will be tough unless you are coming from a similar roles with an existing book of prospects, so you can sell to them and close quickly. Deals are fairly quick to close (65% are >30 days) and you are paid upfront for the sale (paid the close date of the following month), but prospecting is difficult because there while you are given a territory and lists to prospect from, you are generally expected to source all of your own business. If you are good at sourcing business on your own and have patience, there is potential for a lucrative payout, but very few AE's in my office hit quota consistently.
