Question

About 80 open sales jobs listed on the Crowdstrike website but laying off 500 today.  Is this just normal course of business when you get so large or should I avoid trying to break into the org now given this layoff news?

I would be weary of the idea that it only effected jobs that are replaceable by AI, as I know many sales reps over the last quarter have been under extreme pressure to bring in results or being placed on a performance improvement plan without any context towards how they can improve. many of which were the more tenured and active reps in the organization. There have been whispers in the past that CRWD can use pips as a way of reducing their overall headcount without having to recognize them as lay offs, and if you really think about it, post-outage CRWD is doing everything in their power to avert bad press.  We all know that AI has ways to go before it can fully replace human performance, and the timing of these workforce reductions is a little too coincidental in my view. Be cautious but still aware that a good position at CrowdStrike with good leadership, is truly one of the best places to be in tech. My advice would be to look at Corporate AE or above. It is what they have said it is. Growing org needing to stay efficient. Most of these roles are either replaceable by AI or are targeted performance exits via redundancy. No sales involved in this. When you get to 10000 staff you pick up some fat.
