When cybersecurity companies are driven by investors hungry for quick returns but lacking domain knowledge, it often leads to misplaced priorities. Short-term financial goals overshadow the critical need for innovation, security expertise, and long-term strategy. Underinvestment in R&D and talent becomes common. If C-level leaders lack real cybersecurity experience and have been stagnant in their roles, the company struggles to keep up with evolving threats and customer needs. This results in reactive rather than proactive strategies, poor product-market fit, and loss of trust. Such companies risk high employee turnover and fail to adapt to new risks or regulations, exposing both clients and business to danger. In cybersecurity, true leadership requires deep domain expertise—without it, companies lose their competitive edge and risk irrelevance in a fast-changing landscape.
