Former Employee Iron Mountain is, historically, a great company. They know their industry and their value (security and information strategy). But they demand a lot of their reps with lots of distraction, convoluted sales processes, and dismal compensation. Base pay is pathetic in comparison to comparable roles. Commission is paid out at 50% of what they promise, with the other 50% paid when the opportunity "true's up". That could be next year or never, depending on the opp.
Training does not, and cannot, cover all that is required to sell Iron Mountain's wide scope of products. It must be learned through experience. However, Iron Mountain has halted promotion of its internal sellers unless located in Tampa, FL, a crucially careless fumble of its former reputation for excellent employee growth opportunity. Finally, as Iron Mountain navigates the transition of a paper-heavy world to one of digital information, they lack the training necessary to fully understand digital solutions like cloud and data management. They also have been alienating paper records customers with skyrocketing prices and leaving it to sellers to clean up the mess. Customer care is pathetic. Be prepared for purgatory: lots of work for little pay, and no advancement opportunity. Browse Other Reviews
