What is the sales management style like at Mendix?

Like most places, it's highly dependent on your direct boss.  From the top, it is getting more directive than it has been in the past in an attempt to improve forecasting accuracy, close rates, etc.  which creates busy work for sales.  Overall, sales mgt. doesn't really add much value currently.  Tough market - so things are tightening up.

Disorganised, contradictory and oftentimes non-responsive or fully absent with no notice. No such thing as leadership or managers with people skills. Insecurities and ego take priority over results and progressing deals. It seems more important for management to be right rather than find out together what's right. More concerned about the optics of being seen "doing stuff" rather than doing their jobs and supporting the team.  Big talk, but no one walks the talk. No clear sense of direction or expectations - these come with very short notice and often contradict previous guidance. Account Executives are not supported properly by back office functions, who oftentimes struggle themselves with cumbersome processes and the workload. Shame because it is a fantastic product with a immense market potential and excellent talent in non-sales teams.

Difficult to answer. Used to be good, quality has been degrading since a year or so. High performers promoted to managers, but lack the people skills. Or even sales managers without sales experience. Their sales methodology is very good (MEDDPIC), but given the leadership lacks vision/strategy and sales experience - sales is reduced to a science and the process is very micromanaged. You can make good money though, selling is the easy part if you have the right territory. But managing internal stakeholders is very time consuming. Structural problems like backoffice or channel havent been tackled. You are pretty much on your own as an IC and recognition is non-existant.  In essence: they have a very good product, but became a run-of-the-mill corporate
