Former Employee Nearmap was an incredible company when I joined—collaborative, mission-driven, and full of great people. But over time, the focus narrowed almost exclusively to insurance, leading to mass departures from other teams. Many now feel unsupported, pushed toward unrealistic goals, and replaced by leadership’s personal network. Internal silos, vague direction, and resistance to change have made execution difficult. While I was fortunate to leave on my own terms, others remain in limbo, unsure of their future. Nearmap still has talent and potential, but unless leadership is honest about its priorities and invests in people beyond insurance, more will walk away.
