Sales culture at Ryan Transportation (Freight Brokerage) is cut throat. Heavy favoritism. Lots of wasted work on accounts that are just claimed by seniority and not because of the actual work put into specific accounts. Private corporation, so you could receive large opportunities all for their one antiquated lawyer to say we won't agree to a customers terms. During my time at Shamrock I had a few of these multi-billion dollar corporations ask me "Why cant you sign this contract that all your largest competitors signed?" My first idea was that if our largest competitors found solutions to these specific problems + received millions in business, why couldn't Shamrock as a large industry leader? The answer is they are protecting private equity of the family that owns the corporation. Now this isn't a bad thing at all because i'd expect them to operate like that, however it makes the sales side unnecessary convoluted. Taking all of this into account, you are still pressured to sell based on profit generation and pray that your deals fit the company parameters. (Which seemed to be different from other organizations like CH Robinson, TQL, Uber Freight/Transplace, and Coyote. )
