How effective is the sales training program at AT&T for individuals interested in pursuing a career in sales?

AT&T is in a leadership season of horrible decisions. Although, one thing AT&T does well and is super respected by the industry is the B2B Sales Development Program. It’s a fast track to being an AE (Client Solutions Executive) and you can make good money in the program right out of college.

Depends on the business unit you apply to.

Your extended team will likely do a better job training you on the job than onboarding teams will.

If you get a good ASC (SE), then you’ll learn and ramp quickly. If not, it will be a long and difficult process.

Observing as a senior sales rep of 15+ years-it does seem that the company does a nice job with the college hire program brining new talent on board and providing the "sales 101" type stuff.  Once you get beyond the entry level sales roles it's every man/woman on their own.  There are not any trainings outside DEI, compliance, etc. that increase your skillset that have any value outside AT&T in IT or high tech sales.

Not very.  The BSLDP is good in theory, but not very practical.    50% are gone within  6 months.  80% after a year.  95% after 2 yearS

It’s surface level as far as consumer goes. You’ll find that most skills will be obtained on the sales floor through repetition of face to face interactions. Now, definitely soak up the B2B stuff, that will help you actually promote at AT&T into higher paying sales roles or AE roles outside of ATT.

Moving into an entry role in B2B SaaS from IHX, it is pretty different. I'm not sure which program you are looking at but there is quite the rabbit hole on LinkedIn for b2b that I think may provide more value career wise.

Just like most jobs the training is basic. It's geared towards product knowledge and call flow.
