Things have changed over the last few years. The market is much more crowded. It’s much more difficult to differentiate from competitors. Strategy is a constantly moving target. What was once a great company and culture has become a huge grind.

It is a very bespoke sale. Making it very challenging to adjust to market changes. When markets need solutions, making everything from scratch is problematic.

As a veteran salesperson, this was not the best experience in terms of overall career growth. Much of the organization is disorganized with little or no strategy in terms of positioning the technology in the market. Further, to be candid, the sales leadership is non-existent, arrogant and without accountability. Not a good model for growth.

Management has set up MBOs that are leading to lower morale and a culture of fear internally. A lot of fantastic leaders are moving to other companies because they are frustrated with their experience at Appian. Product is very hard to sell and has a lot of competition from huge players like Salesforce, servicenow and Microsoft
