Sales is almost treated as a necessary evil at Esri. Such is the confidence in their geospatial platform that it will essentially sell itself. It does in some markets, but not in most commercial markets

Esri is what I call golden handcuffs; they pay low, make you work in an office where they expect you to sit from 8am-5pm whether you are productive or not, offer no commission or incentives, but give you goals to hit that your yearly merit is based off of while giving you the availability to bank hours (anything over 40 hours) for extra vacation, no monthly health...Read More

I suppose no commission might be ok if a base salary was scaled up accordingly...but here not only are you looking at zero commission, but a below market base.

Moving back to fully in office. If you’re interested in GIS, it’s the only place to go. Otherwise I would not recommend, the pay structure is not worth it.
