Current Employee Great place to grow from BDR to AE and gain closing experience. Many BDRs are promoted within 10–18 months. After that, it may be worth exploring other opportunities, as compensation is typically 10–20% below market and inbound lead flow is declining in the U.S. SMB segment. However, mid-market and international growth remain strong.
The SMB org is split into Lower SMB (ENTR) and Upper SMB. Most new AEs start in ENTR, where you’re expected to generate 70-90% of your own pipeline. There are no territories, so 50+ reps mine the same pool of 30,000+ unclaimed accounts to find warm leads.
Expect to spend at least 50% of your time mining in Salesforce and outbounding. The product has strong product–market fit but is often twice the price of competitors, so handling pricing objections is a key part of the role.
