Current Employee Smith and Nephew is a good company company and they focus on promoting from within. However in the past two years they have had two layoffs and several commission cuts. There is a strong focus from leadership on improving the stock price and top line / bottom line efficiency, but overall they seem to lack long-term vision or direction on where the company is going. They have made several good acquisitions throughout their years, including companies like Arthrocare or Rotation Medical, but internally they tend to trail behind their competitors in market development and new products. Overall it is a good company to start and grow with for 5-10 years, but long term it is difficult to continue to advance unless you are patient enough to wait around while passing on opportunities with other competitors.
