Verizon is a large organization. They are committed to diversity. There are some bureaucratic challenges with such a large company. Verizon also responds to market forces rather than lead in market changes. Their technology is alway developing however they specialize in data transport and wireless technology. They do partner with others for the CPE, security services, and voice over IP. It is a good company to work for however they are moving through a market transition with their emerging technology.
