The best part of Grainger is the people you work with. The company does provide some quality training, especially for folks brand new in sales. However, for more seasoned sales individuals, it is a bit basic. Working with their Government accounts, you are restricted in your ability to sell beyond the state/federally approved budget. The goal is to acquire a majority of that total spend. When government budgets & spending are tight, your commission suffers tremendously. They have a commission structure which is paid out per half (6 months), and is based on upper management target goals. You may find yourself growing sales for a given territory, and make significantly less than you did the year prior. Quotas don't work well when you're assigned and confined to a particular customer space. Very high turn over amongst sellers, including managers.
