The sales culture is “immature”. The company doesn’t know what it wants to be when it grows up. The corporate playbook is PLG but that is not a fit for the solution or market. 
Unfortunately, the exec team has hired “yes-men” who do not challenge the strategy, so don’t expect it to change quickly.

The sales culture is trying to put the whole world into old-school US selling patterns. There's a "flavor of the month" mindset which only confuses and confines the AE to very strict boundaries. There's no slack for creativity or tolerance for flexibility. The product is hard to sell and given the world wide financial situation where saving money is more important than spending money, the company only tightens the pricing and discounting rules.
As someone else mentioned, the managerial layer are for the most part "yes-men" who instead of figuring out the strategy is not working and reflecting this up the hierarchy chain, prefer to pressure the sales reps into complying with irrational demands.

Not great since the expansion of the sales team. They drastically increased reps and diluted territories making it extremely hard to be successful. The managers they higher from outside are all Oracle folks and manage accordingly. I would argue, 9/10 reps are extremely unhappy and burnt out.

The company offer a middleware nothing more , no real use cases to sell . So you must be yes player and great Pipeline creator sometimes large numbers , somehow small real numbers ! 
As only the lucky ones win a project most of the culture is behind the successful ones .

In one word: disaster.
The company makes it real hard for AEs to sell, internal processes are too over the top, 
legal is a labyrinth hell of complex bureaucracy.
