Targeting HashiCorp for my next role - any advice for interview prep or which role/vertical/teams to focus on?

Standard interview with a few people but the last interview is a pitch. The company is so poorly run they will take anyone. No one is making money and it is a shithole environment. Do not work for a guy named Brunner... everyone hates him and he is a sales VP. The sales turnover seems like 90% every 18 months. RSUs are a joke and comp is well below the competition. This company might be the worst employer in my career.

I’d avoid any corporate or ent strat roles. Reps are struggling across the board whether small or larger deals.  Global steps are doing well bc they have experienced leaders and are trusted, but rest of org is high turnover. When someone is fired there’s no notice to the team, all of a sudden their slack is deactivated and no leadership announces their termination. Very much a “push things under the rug” environment from leadership - regardless of segment. CSM org and other sales segments have been gutted - so sales roles here may not be the best place to look. Leadership is a huge problem in both segments and heavily disliked by reps but loved by executives - they’re all buddies from VMware - so no leader is ever gonna be reprimanded. Renewals seems to have good leadership, sales enablement is useless but seems to have good leadership - anything else I wouldn’t bother.

Echoing the same thoughts as the other two commenters. If you have a choice, look elsewhere for a sales org. This place has drastically gone down the drain in the past 12 months and has a HORRIBLE sales structure w/ 0 means of upwards mobility at any level... and it's only getting worse w/ all of their top-talent jumping ship.

Barely anyone is hitting their goal across all segments, quotas are consistently being raised despite no one hitting, and leadership is corrupted by VMWare people who have absolutely no idea how to run & grow a sales org. So save yourself 12 months of misery and avoid this place like the plague if you care about your career at all.

I left just under a year ago and the federal team was a total disaster. Five out of the seven reps left and the VP got fired. Everything seemed to hit a wall back at the end of 2021. The open source product is too good and become competition for the enterprise version. As others have said VMWare people took over senior leadership and the culture became much more toxic as a result.

Stay away from the corporate org. Quotas in Q4 are unattainable, poor/zero culture and they are adding more in-office days as their answer for low attainment and you are required to hand off deals in-flight if they are over a certain dollar amount. I'd look elsewhere.
