Current Employee MongoDB is a great company, the product is great and very well positioned for the era of AI. However, as a sales rep your career at MongoDB can be a gamble and your success depends extremely on the batch/ account you get - more so in an upmarket motion they are pursuing. This is mainly due to the way MongoDB compensates its Reps.
The compensation model automatically creates approx. 6-10 month delay between deal "closure" and payout since you get paid on consumption. While this is great if you have a batch/ account that goes well, for many of the accounts this means 0 commission for a very long time. Recently MongoDB loses a lot of very good people because of that -> They got great accounts or "challenges" and just don´t stand a chance to make their numbers or even see a dime in comission.
If you come for MongoDB for the long game and build up an account for over 2+ years than it can be rewarding as per now -> the future is uncertain since they changed comission plans for the worse last year, it can well be that they do it again next year. I Browse Other Reviews
