Current Employee As one of the most senior members of the sales engineering team (recently rebranded to "solutions engineering"), I have seen tremendous changes in the team over the last 4 years. I fear that the changes are making the team a little over-optimized. The pattern I keep observing is that SE leadership is often taking parts of our job and outsourcing it to a dedicated position. One one hand, that's smart, I have less responsibilities so, accordingly, I can fine tune those skills to a degree that was previously not possible. On the other hand, I'm beginning to feel like a cog in a sales machine. I do a couple of things very well, but it's getting repetitive. Browse Other Reviews

Thanks for sharing this thoughtful feedback — and for being part of our evolution over the years. You’re right that we’ve shifted from generalist roles toward greater specialization. The goal isn’t to make anyone feel like a cog, but to help each team member hone their craft and focus on the areas where they can make the biggest impact. We’re continuing to fine-tune this balance, and input like yours helps us do that.
