Current Employee My experience at Tacton was mixed. The company has a strong product-market fit in manufacturing, but has struggled with organizational stability and strategic focus. High turnover across R&D, Product, and Sales has slowed innovation and led to overcommitments with limited delivery improvements. A heavy emphasis on new customer acquisition—often at the expense of retention—highlights a lack of alignment between GTM and the broader organization.
Following a private equity acquisition, there were significant talent departures and layoffs that weakened company culture, diluted the brand, and undermined execution capabilities. The PE focus on short-term profitability—likely in preparation for a future flip—has further constrained investment in critical areas. While CPQ remains a sticky solution, overpromising on high-ARR deals without strong delivery puts long-term NRR at risk. Tacton remains a high-upside, high-risk opportunity, but success will depend on rebuilding and retaining strong talent across R&D, Product, and Sales. Browse Other Reviews
