Former Employee The Canadian market was still not ready for Toast (and quite honestly not sure if they will fully ever be). Canadian restaurant owners are more cheap and risk-averse. Very low adoption to new tech. They can’t get over the cost-cutting/cost-saving mindset. They couldn’t care less about making more money. It’s pointless having any sort of ROI convo becuase most don’t believe it. Most of the Canadian customers have pretty much been “bought” by massive discounts, rate matching etc. Many restaurant owners are more than happy using Clover etc The only way to sell to Canadian restaurant owners is to massively discount, show them how much they are saving, how much they are getting for throwaway prices as opposed to what they already have and what’s out there. And no “buying” customers isn’t going to just en a short-term play.
This will be a long-term thing too because restaurant owners don’t want to change their mindset here.
They also aren’t very business-savvy. Highly emotional and are more interested in cooking their fries.
Problem is Toast is a premium product, it’s like trying to sell a Ferrari to a bunch of 70 year old conservative men that love their Honda civic. Browse Other Reviews
