Former Employee Yelp was a puppy mill for sales reps. You call accounts that have been bashed over the head with calls from Yelp, so they either avoid you at all costs or hang up, or tell you that they tried it and hated it. If you are lucky you get someone that is clueless and stoke them out to buy ads. But do the ads end up helping them? I never saw any real metrics that show how much what we were offering actually helped these businesses. There was a lot of fluffy puffy talk about how GREAT Yelp was and how much they help their customers. They really want you to drink the Kool Aid and there are instances where you can make good money there - but I would take the approach that I am coming here to sharpen my SALES Knife and the experience will do a great job preparing you for your next sales role. I'd love to see the metrics on churn rate for Yelp employees in this role. Health benefits were awesome, remote work is great, pay is bad, you do get better quicker if you apply yourself. Good luck!
