Current Employee 8x8 is experiencing significant challenges and would not recommend this role to anyone.
The pros of 8x8: Incredible culture and one of the few tech companies with friendly hires. Fully remote. Very relaxed culture. No micromanagement or rude leaders. Everyone is someone you would want to grab a beer with. People in cheaper cost of living areas stay because of this alone!
Cons: Not enough coverage or pipeline. Heavily channel dependent but partners no longer want to push 8x8 due to historic customer churn and incentive changes. Very very low quota attainment for AE's. Sometimes less than 10% of team hitting on many teams. (not enough salary data to support this on these types of sites) Very high churn... Head of Channel, CRO, and GVP of Sales all gone in less than 6 months. OTE does not match what you will earn. Expect to live off of 20k-30k more than your base. Very low close rate (constantly losing deals to Ring, Zoom, NICE, etc.)
SMB AEs here are making 90-120k a year tops. (1 or 2 outliers)
Midmarket are earning 120-150k tops. (1 or 2 outliers)
Enterprise are making 135-200k tops
It is a BRUTAL place to be an AE...
