Overall I would rate the sales executive role at AT&T as a decent opportunity. Selling mobility is a challenge in an over saturated market. There’s no such thing as new growth in this role. You’re simply taking customers from competitors. The current leadership sends mixed signals as far as targeted verticals and goals don’t really align with compensation.

The training at AT&T is not good. Management will push for unethical sales to push for the high quotas that are unattainable. Ensure you keep all email receipts to protect yourself throughout the sales process. Customers are great and the pay is great. It was a great career and met great people.

It was a lot of fun working for AT&T prior to the acquisition of directv. They had a lot of competing interests after that as they pushed to become an “entertainment” company. They spent a lot of money on these initiatives and began finding ways to pay people less.
