Current Employee Negative: Leadership does not understand what is going on in 80% of the market. I have seen quota for companies that are bankrupt or out of business. Routinely asked to work on projects that does not retire quota or that give market share to competitors for programs without published or defined compensation. Cannot see past next quarter. Hiring freeze of external experienced candidates going on 2 years with special approvals.
Positive: Solid people to work with. VP’s will often get in the boat and shoot at targets with you. If you can get the right accounts you can actually make great money for 3 years until the cycle catches up to you. Somewhat fun and some room for creative solutions to destroy quota until upper-level management finds a reason why teams shouldn't be compensated for or compete with that part of their business. In general many clients like IBM and as long as they are not being audited meetings are easy to get and the products are technically often superior to competition (but price is often a trade off)
