My experienced as a "DM" in the Major Accounts Sales org at ADP was extremely disappointing and almost meaningless. Like many others, I was lured in by the promise of good OTE, brand recognition, and selling into the Mid-Market space. What I didn't know is that being a Major Accounts DM you are constrained into selling to companies with 50-149 employees, which screams SMB, not MM. This is an insanely small band to devote your focus on, and if you stumble upon anything outside of this range you have to split the deal with reps in the other segments. I was an overly hire; and didn't have a territory nor a quota through the entirety of my first 6 months. I was promised a territory within a few weeks during interviews; so this felt deceitful and betraying. Once I did get my list of 200 accounts, the data is inaccurate, salesforce is far from being a source of truth, and you have no guidance or understanding of what it takes to succeed. 1on1s, Team meetings, and corporate trainings all felt disingenuous and were a waste of time. Just not a good experience and I stuck around longer than I should.
