How likely is it to advance from SDR to Account Executive at BambooHR and what are the typical career progression opportunities in sales at the company?

Most of the top AEs started out as SDRs and Bamboo prefers to hire AEs from the body of SDRs that are performing well.

I didn’t start as an SDR, but I referred a friend who started as an SDR and went AE in 4 months.

I started out as an SDR, and within 6 months was recruited to an AE position prior to my even looking into applying for the position. I wasn't "buddy-buddy" with my managers, but I worked by butt off and the results showed it. 
I've found if you're open with your manager about your desires, they'll help you succeed and get to where you want to be. It's very fair, and the hiring managers will really look at the numbers/performance. If someone does not get promoted, it's likely because their performance was not as good as someone else's. And I've rarely if ever seen "special treatment" amongst teams. If ever, it's been done in favor of giving a lead to the one who is most likely to succeed with it, or has shown up well in the past. 
Additionally, you don't have to continue in a sales role from SDR. I've known many reps who went from SDR to Operations, Expansion, Implementation, IT, and more. If you've got a degree in something not sales, there's an opportunity to grow and move into a position that supports/utilizes that within the first year.

They claim subjectivity in their process but their actions show heavy favoritism. In other words, it’s almost impossible for new employees to get promotions at any level over tenured reps - especially if they are buddy-buddy with their managers. Typically they get special treatment. Extra leads, etc
