Current Employee Lots of politics and patchy results. Don't just go for the brand name, really understand which products and territory you'd be getting. Avoid joining the acquisition companies, it's a big mess and internal mobility is not actually encouraged at Google (even if they tell you the opposite).
The pay and benefits are great, the culture is cutthroat, leadership doesn't like any form of feedback (don't believe what they say it's a trap), coaching and training are almost non-existent or of very subpar standards.
negotiate hard on your first offer and your level. once you're in promotions are not worth the effort and very hard to obtain.
In short, they hire very senior people and drop them off the deep end, and if you survive you'll make bank. All of that nice Google culture you heard about does not apply anymore, especially not to Google Cloud. It's cloud-native Oracle now.
