I was just offered a mid market AE role at Hubspot but I’m seeing A LOT of bad reviews on here and Glassdoor from 2025 talking about unrealistic targets, PIP plans, etc. Is mid market that bad? I have multiple offers and I want to make sure I’m making the right career choice.

Look at it as an objective gamble. Hubspot looks great on the resume, 9-12 month ramp quota, and QLs are more frequently routed to new hire ramping reps. On the other hand, chances are decent of micromanaging, monthly quota frustration, and most of your cohort be on a PIP or gone by 16 months.

I didn’t want to believe all the negative reviews but it’s really tough here in Mid Market. I just finished my ramp and more than half my ramping cohort will be on a pip next month. You have to be an exceptional seller to just be average at HubSpot.

If I could go back I wouldn’t do it again.

If you have other offers I’d suggest considering those. No team players here, extremely cutthriat and lots of gatekeeping. Tenured reps get preferential treatment. They overhire and most new reps are gone before they hit 1.5 years.

Like a lot of things it depends.  Some good managers some bad, bad starting book that can be improved, the quota is doable but rough if you don’t focus on the right accounts.  Gets easier as you curate your book.

Great culture and promo paths if you can hit.  If not you will be out within 2 years

It really does depend on what you are comparing HubSpot with and where you are in your Career journey.  HubSpot is a notable brand and will have recall value on your resume. The ramp is one of the good ones you come across. 10 months to catch up to full quota.  There is a churn and burn culture and managers do ensure their success by keeping more ramp reps on their team(lower quota). so there is a PIP looming around all the time.

That said, if you put in the work(think 14 hrs/day) give up on work life  balance  and grind it out, you can be successful and craft your exit after that.

It really depends on which country you're a MM rep for. Some territories have been hit hard by economic factors. For example, the UKI MM teams have been hit very hard by: cost of living, poor economic growth, and political uncertainty. Throw in HS's over-hiring and policy choices (eg: clawback rules) as well as capacity structure, you have a perfect storm whereby reps and managers are hit *very* hard.

Unsure what location you are applying for but it is worth noting that there has been a drastic change in the last 6m in MM EMEA in terms of new hire onboarding. I know the bad outweighs the good comments here but I'd take note of the comment below of the person hired late last year as it shows the new processes. NGL it is tough but I don't know any sales role that is easy

Was at hubspot for 12 years--loved my time there, but it certainly has challenges. 
Hubspot definitely over hires to plan for AE attrit. That's a fact, it was one of the changes the VP of sales brought with her. That said, you can be successful, you just have to be really good at your job.

I’m a MidMarket AE that got hired late last year. Ive only missed quota once this year. I’ve personally never joined a company this beloved by customers and respected by prospects. I haven’t known anyone to be pipped and in fact 4 people on my team have gotten promotions in the last 6 months.
