the product fit greatly depends on indsutry trends and country level demand. Culturally local office is not too bad, but it depends on the people you work with as well.

My overall experience was good? Seems to me like our base pay was pretty competitive, but it was very difficult for our group at IBM to be successful. MVS is at the bottom of the priority list.
