Disclaimer that my overall experience probably isn't the norm for most Microsoft employees, but I took a lower OTI offer under the expectation that Azure was stable and growing. In a little over a year I went through 3 territories, 3 managers, 2 operating units, 2 comp changes, 1 role change, and a partridge in a pear tree. With that in mind, the role of a Sr. Azure specialist is responsible for all Stage 2 & 3 opportunities, technically only developing existing opportunities, validating, POC/piloting, and driving them to close. So if you have accounts that are sold on the value of Azure, and your account team is doing their job (owning the business relationship & finding net new opportunities), then you'll do fine. If you have an account list that have chosen a competing platform like AWS, then you'll be in for a tough time.
