Speaking strictly for the Account manager role, compensation is pretty competitive and a 50/50 split is rare for such a role. Accounts seem distributed fairly enough, it feels like I have much more control over my destiny vs other sales roles. Opportunities to travel are abundant and encouraged. Like most sales orgs, the direct side is going to be more difficult, competitive, and have less reps hitting quota. The Account Management side is not as tough but obviously comes with a lower upside. There is very minimal training and hand holding here. You are expected to throw yourself in the fire and learn as you go. Management is extremely supportive throughout the process, but if you do not raise your hand often you will drown.

It's been a great experience working big accounts. Very competitive to find new leads with BDRs not able to work them with reps and other reps nurturing leads for years.

Good for a young employee out of college. You can get screwed based on your territory. They hire a bunch of young people and fire almost as many. High churn but if you can get in a good patch with a good manager they do promote internally.
