I have heard Snowflake comp plans pay solely on a consumption model and would like to better understand how this works and if it is advantageous or not for AEs? Meaning you can sell a large deal but you won't get comped on it until the client starts consuming it. Thanks!

The AEs that are comped based solely on consumption work exclusively with existing Snowflake customers, they don’t close new business. And yes, their primary goal is to grow their consumption through new use cases and also organic growth. But there are also Spiffs for things other than consumption.

The challenge with this new comp model is that it will be much more difficult to blow out your number, as our quotas will be determined by their run rate plus a % bump. You can't simply sign a large deal and retire quota...they have to use it within the year. To give context, our NRR is 131%

You get paid off cap 1 deals and consumption. Part of an AEs role is to land new logos and they have accelerators, at times, for these. The other part of your revenue is to find use cases within the account to help them to start consuming the product.

That is not true. There is a a 2-part quota for Snowflake sales reps. Growth (deals sizes) and consumption of those deals. You will get paid on closing the deal and you will get comped on the consumption of your accounts.
