Former Employee Confluent has an excellent product and fit within the market - no one comes close to selling a better product in the data streaming and Kafka space, with that being said the data streaming space isn't infinitely large and the company has struggled to move into their product's new 'data streaming platform' identity - and candidly, just winning at Kafka won't be enough to achieve sustainable long-term success (look at the stock, it won't exceed $35).
Also, the company has become far less about the people. I had great times at Confluent, but my time there ended unceremoniously. After working at the company for 3+ years and being promoted from Inbound SDR to Outbound SDR to Cloud Acquisition Rep. to Commercial Account Executive (entered this role March 1, 2025), I was laid off blindly, even after hitting 210% NACV in my first full quarter.
My honest thought on where they are now - Confluent as a business has continued to care less and less about the people and is focused on rapid growth and expansion of products with a strategy in place that appears to be consistently changing amidst premature product releases and lack of identity.
