Is this news about additional layoffs at Dell right, or did those already happen? Partner Driven Market Strategy? whats going on?

It is correct! I was part of the layoffs that happened in February and a lot of my friends were just laid off last week.  It didn’t matter if you hit your numbers or not nobody knows how decisions were actually made.

It was a significant NEW round of layoffs, affecting primarily sales but also other support functions. Conducted in alignment to new partner-first strategy but I suspect also in an effort to control costs in a very tough business environment, driven primarily by end-point and server declines. Nothing new at Dell, it's been happening for the entire time I've been here, it's just that the last few rounds have been much bigger than normal and that social media is obviously amplifying the anxiety.

Dell does not care about sales people, at all and it is a place impossible to clear $400k (they cap you, then will hit you with the “Dell Tax” when you way over achieve).

Their partner strategy sucks, and they pretty much burned that bridge when they bought emc. I wouldn’t touch Dell RN

The layoffs are correct and widespread having just been impacted myself. These are a real kick in the teeth as everyone in my team had been exceeding quota. Decisions taken have no regard for impact on customers and colleagues. Morale is pretty poor to say the least.

A few thousand were laid off last week with rumors of another batch coming next quarter. Not sure how common it is, but I think they’re banking on past reps getting jobs with partners, reducing op ex, and expand their channel presence

At this point Dell is basically outsourcing a lot of core and most specialty sales roles to partners and a growing website that can capture purchases without salespeople. I would not pursue employment with Dell in sales and there are no postings anyway.
