Got final stage interview as an AE - it's for MSE and LE in the education sector. Is this a good vertical to be given and how is that team performing?

I wouldn’t entertain it, personally. Gartner is struggling hard right now with so much micromanagement and unattainable quotas. People are leaving here left and right and management doesn’t understand why.  Save yourself the headache!

Churn & burn outfit. Anyone who doesn't luck into 100%+ is fired after 1y. Gaslighting & impossible PIPs become SOP long before official layoffs which is where EDU is now. Paycheck for a year if you keep your head down.

Have friends in education, I know at one point they spoke about shutting down the MSE side. You might ask if they have now combined the two?

The last year or so (esp with doge) education has been a nightmare destination for any new hire. I would suggest avoiding this and seeing if you can pivot.

Not making much sense if your interview is for both MSE & LE. However, the education vertical is awful and led by poor leadership. It is the worst vertical at the company besides FED and that is only because of DOGE and the recent state of the fed industry. I would not recommend

I used an LE role in Education as a foot in the door to Gartner as others have suggested. 1 terrible year and 1 great year. EDU in general is tough but it is possible to succeed, hit winner's circle, etc. with some luck/timing and skill/effort. Good opportunity to get in the door though if you really want to work at Gartner; build your internal network, crush it for 1-2 years, and then pivot into another/better role. Lots of great internal mobility at Gartner.

The education division is being impacted by the DOGE cuts since they fall under the Public Sector space.  If it is a foot in the door, then i would continue to pursue it, but also encourage you to build your brand and transfer into the Private sector down the road.  I did think the Gartner training was really good.  Agreements are getting cancelled left and right in the Pub Sec space and many universities are also being impacted by budget cuts.

I worked in the education sector for just under a year. As always, it’s a story of pros and cons. In Europe, the education team has been the top performing team. However expect long sales cycles, procurement processes the likes of public sector, but also high retention and client satisfaction.
